In Matt Costa’s world, the only constant is change. Every album is a chance for him to push boundaries, explore uncharted waters, and try something new. Never has this been more apparent than on Costa’s stunning third album, Mobile Chateau.
No matter how you look at Mobile Chateau, it’s an extraordinary vision. It’s a trip and a tribute, a revelation and a reverie. You may think you know Matt Costa, but this is a stirring reminder that he’s always changing.
Matt has toured with Jack Johnson, Modest Mouse, Oasis, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, G. Love & Special Sauce, and Death Cab for Cutie.

Oct. 5th , 2010 – Don Heffington & Rain Perry
by peterhimmelman on Sep.30, 2010, under Furious World Announcement, Furious World Guests
Don Heffington & Rain Perry
Don Heffington has recorded with too many people to name… Bob Dylan, Victoria Williams and The Wallflowers come immediately to mind. Don was in the critically-acclaimed band Lone Justice, a band that was admired greatly by Linford and Karin. When Over the Rhine is in the mood to play a show with a drummer, Don gets the first call. He joined the band in December for a handful of dates, which brought the first ten years of the band gracefully to a close. Don’s drumming is featured on the new Over the Rhine record, due to be released early 2001 on Virgin/Backporch. Don lives in Los Angeles and is numbered among the great players of our generation.
Rain Perry’s song “Beautiful Tree” is the theme song for the new series on the CW Network, Life Unexpected. “Yosemite,” her celebration of the pains of growing up, won the Grand Prize (Folk Division) in the 2000 John Lennon Songwriting Contest and has been recorded by Tom Russell and Nanci Griffith. Her autobiographical one-woman, multi-media show Cinderblock Bookshelves is currently touring the country.

Singer/Songwriter Joe Firstman this Tuesday 7pm PST
by mjkeys1 on Aug.27, 2010, under Furious World Announcement, Furious World Guests
Joe was signed by a major recording label, Atlantic Records, and his album The War of Women was released. In support of this record, Joe went on tour nationally, opening for famous musicians such as Jewel, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Josh Kelley, Jason Mraz, Michelle Branch, and Lisa Marie Presley.
In 2005, Joe separated himself from Atlantic Records and set his focus on being the full-time house band/artist for Last Call with Carson Daly, a gig which lasted until 2009.
His brief, eight-song set earned him a standing ovation – unheard of for a warm-up act…With his piano-powered attack and his rock eclecticism, newcomer Joe Firstman reminds you of Elton John when he was still young. Firstman is the real thing. Look for him as a contender for Best New Artist at the Grammys.” – New York Post

New Episodes Airing This Summer, New Album ’The Mystery & The Hum’ Out Sept 14
Peter Himmelman’s Furious World, a live, online Rock and Roll variety show hosted by the accomplished singer-songwriter debuted in 2008 with a microphone, a camera and an internet stream. It now operates with a multi-camera, multi-audio portable Newtek Tricaster TV studio hosted live by ustream.tv (it also streams on the ustream homepage) and performances often air from Himmelman’s high-end home studio, to thousands of viewers. The highly improvised show features the sharp-witted Himmelman along with special guests, musical performances, and artistic interludes.
Past guests on Furious World include American Idol alum Brooke White, Wayne Kramer (MC5), folk artist Dan Bern, producer Larry Klein, Pandora founder Tim Westergren and ‘Food, Inc.’ director Robert Kenner.
Recurring segments include “Turtle Talk” featuring a philosophic tortoise named King Ferdinand, a poetic video montage known as “Phantoms Of The 405,” and a call-in segment, “Speak Out,” that typically ends the show.
Music Player (http://musicplayer.com) will be streaming upcoming episodes of Furious World on their sites, which include Keyboard Player, Guitar Player and EQ. The shows will also be archived for playback. “Music Player’s online community is one of the most interesting places on the web for musicians to get information and inspiration.” says Himmelman.
“MPN’s content is always focused on helping musicians sound better and play better,” says Guitar Player Editor in Chief and Group Editorial Director Michael Molenda. “So it’s a real thrill to share Peter’s compelling and unique views on creativity, music production, and live performance—as well as his fabulously wry sense of humor—with our community.”
Furious World will be airing a series of new episodes this summer, the first of which will premiere August 17 at 7PM Pacific Time with special guest Jim Keltner. Keltner is best known for his session work with George Harrison, John Lennon and Ringo Starr. He’s also worked with Roy Orbison, Jerry Garcia, The Rolling Stones, Carly Simon, Bob Dylan and many more. Stay tuned for schedule and special guest updates.

The Grammy and Emmy-nominated artist’s new album, ‘The Mystery & The Hum’ is out Sept 14 via Himmasongs. Time Magazine dubbed him one of “The New Troubadours,” describing Peter as “writing songs with the same emphatic edge and aesthetic urgency that impelled the Lost Generation to write novels.”
